Tanqueray Malacca Gin

Tanqueray Malacca Gin

Tanqueray · Cameronbridge Distillery

82.6 proofNASScotland / England, United Kingdom
Originally released in 1997 and then discontinued, Malacca was revived due to bartender demand. Named for the Strait of Malacca — the historic spice trade route — it represents a gentler, more aromatic approach to gin that sits beautifully between Old Tom sweetness and London Dry austerity. Ideal for those who find classic Tanqueray too bracing.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Citrus-forward with pronounced grapefruit and lemon zest, followed by soft juniper and a warm cassia bark sweetness. Gentle floral notes and a hint of coriander seed emerge with time.

Palate

Softer and rounder than classic London Dry profiles. Juniper is present but takes a supporting role behind citrus peel, ginger warmth, and a subtle sweetness. The mouthfeel is almost creamy, with chamomile and nutmeg in the background.

Finish

Medium length, clean, with lingering grapefruit pith and a gentle peppery fade.

Inspired by Charles Tanqueray's 19th-century travels along the Strait of Malacca spice route, this recipe was revived from the Tanqueray family archives and re-released after a cult following among bartenders kept demand alive for nearly two decades.

Whitley Neill Blood Orange Gin

Whitley Neill

Whitley Neill's Blood Orange expression works because it respects the gin beneath the flavoring. The blood orange is vivid without being syrupy, and the juniper-forward base keeps it honest. It's a gin that makes a spectacular spritz but doesn't embarrass itself neat — a rare feat in the flavored gin category.

Rhum Clément Cuvée Homère Rhum Agricole Vieux

Rhum Clément

Cuvée Homère is Clément's tribute to founder Homère Clément, and it showcases what extended aging does to quality rhum agricole. The cane character remains at the foundation, but the oak and oxidative aging add layers that rival fine cognac in complexity. This is a sipping rum that demands — and rewards — your full attention.

G.D. Vajra

Vajra's Albe bottling is the entry point to the estate's Barolo range, sourced from younger vines across multiple village plots. It delivers textbook Nebbiolo character — roses, tar, cherry — at a price that makes it one of the best introductions to Barolo available. Give it a thirty-minute decant and watch it bloom.
