Pazo de Señorans Albariño 2022
Pazo de Señorans · Pazo de Señorans, Meis, Pontevedra, Galicia
Pazo de Señorans Albariño is the white wine that sommeliers pour for themselves. From a sixteenth-century manor in the Salnés Valley — the heart of Rías Baixas, where the Atlantic shapes every vine — this is Albariño at its most expressive.
Nose
Nectarine and fresh figs emerge immediately, with orange zest, white flowers, and a faint saline minerality that speaks of the Atlantic proximity.
Palate
Simultaneously rich and fresh, with stone fruit and citrus flavors showing excellent concentration and clarity. The four months on lees add a textural creaminess.
Finish
Clean, mineral-driven, and refreshingly long, with lingering citrus, a trace of honeyed warmth, and a saline close that leaves you reaching for oysters, seafood, or simply the next glass.

Cocktail Suggestion
Cocktail — Serve This Chilled: Albariño of this quality shines brightest on its own. Serve at 8–10°C in a tulip-shaped white wine glass.
Food Pairing
Pair with: Fresh Galician-style pulpo a la gallega (octopus with paprika and olive oil), grilled whole branzino, or a plate of briny Kumamoto oysters.

Hayman's Royal Dock Navy Strength Gin
Hayman's
Navy strength gins were originally proofed to ensure gunpowder would still ignite if rum rations spilled on it — a practical origin that yields an expressive spirit. Hayman's Royal Dock is a textbook example of how higher ABV amplifies botanical clarity. In cocktails, it refuses to be diluted into anonymity.

Ron Diplomático Mantuano
Diplomático
Diplomático's Mantuano is often overshadowed by its Reserva Exclusiva sibling, but it stands on its own as a well-crafted daily sipper. The Venezuelan tropical climate accelerates the angel's share and concentrates flavors. At its price point, it punches well into cocktail territory while remaining pleasant neat.

Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond 7 Year Old
Heaven Hill
Heaven Hill's bonded expression punches well above its price. The seven years in Bardstown's climate-stressed rickhouses push real complexity into the wood interaction. This is a workhorse bourbon with a scholar's depth.

El Tesoro Añejo
El Tesoro
El Tesoro's tahona-crushed, oven-roasted production methods are traditional to the bone, and the two-year rest in ex-bourbon barrels at altitude in Arandas lets the highland terroir breathe through. This is añejo tequila that respects the agave rather than burying it under oak.

Domaine Wachau Grüner Veltliner Federspiel Terrassen 2022
Domäne Wachau
The terraced vineyards of the Wachau cling to granite and gneiss slopes above the Danube, and the wines grown here carry the rock in their bones. Domäne Wachau's cooperative model pools fruit from some of the region's best sites, and this Federspiel-level bottling captures the Wachau's essence at an accessible price. Chill it, pour it, and taste the terraces.

Planeta Etna Bianco 2022
Planeta
Planeta's Etna Bianco is a compelling introduction to Carricante, the indigenous white grape of Mount Etna's northern slopes. The 2022 vintage balances ripeness and acidity with precision. At this price, it's one of the most transparent expressions of volcanic terroir available.

Kistler Vineyards Sonoma Mountain Chardonnay 2021
Kistler Vineyards
Kistler's Sonoma Mountain bottling shows what happens when multiple vineyard parcels are blended by a winemaker obsessed with site-specific texture. Steve Kistler's Burgundian approach — whole-cluster pressing, native ferment, sur lie aging — creates a Chardonnay where the blending of parcels yields complexity that no single block could achieve. This is California Chardonnay at its most purposeful.

Terlano Pinot Bianco Vorberg Riserva 2020
Cantina Terlano
Cantina Terlano's Vorberg Riserva is arguably the finest expression of Pinot Bianco in the world, and the 2020 vintage is exceptional. Extended aging on fine lees in large oak gives this wine a gravitas that rivals top white Burgundy at a fraction of the price. A wine that will continue to develop for a decade or more.
