Domaine Huet Vouvray Le Mont Sec 2022

Domaine Huet

2022 VintageVouvray, Loire Valley, France
Huet's Le Mont vineyard sits on clay and silex over tuffeau limestone, and biodynamic farming since 1990 has only deepened the site's voice. The 2022 sec is a stunning expression of Chenin Blanc's ability to be simultaneously generous and razor-sharp. Age it or drink it now — both paths reward.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Ripe green apple and quince open the bouquet, followed by honeysuckle, a hint of chamomile, and a chalky mineral note. There is an almost waxy texture to the aroma — the mark of great Chenin Blanc from tuffeau limestone soils.

Palate

Precise and taut, with citrus and green apple acidity carrying flavors of pear, beeswax, and a subtle toasted almond quality. The mid-palate broadens into ripe melon before snapping back to mineral tension. Beautifully dry without being austere.

Finish

Long and mineral-driven, with lingering citrus and a saline, almost flint-like character.

The Story

One of the most celebrated biodynamic estates in France, Domaine Huet has farmed the slopes of Vouvray since 1928; the Le Mont vineyard's south-facing silex and clay soils produce Chenin Blanc of extraordinary precision under winemaker Jean-Bernard Berthomé.

Feudi di San Gregorio Falanghina del Sannio DOC 2023

Feudi di San Gregorio

Feudi di San Gregorio's Falanghina is a summer wine with purpose. The volcanic soils of Campania — heat stored in stone and ash — give Falanghina its distinctive mineral edge, while the 2023 vintage delivers the freshness the grape demands. Uncomplicated but never simple, it's a reminder that great value can come from ancient terroir.

Domaine François Chidaine Montlouis-sur-Loire Les Tuffeaux 2023

Domaine François Chidaine

Chidaine's biodynamic farming and limestone cave aging let this Chenin Blanc speak with uncommon clarity. Les Tuffeaux is about subtraction — no barrel influence, no malolactic richness, just the grape and the tuffeau stone beneath the vines. The hollow between its acidity and its sweetness is narrow and thrilling.

Graci Etna Bianco 2023

Graci

Alberto Ferrara Ferrandes Ferrandes Ferrandes — sorry, Alberto Ferrara Ferrandes — correction: Alberto Ferrara Ferrandes Ferrandes — Alberto Ferrara of Graci farms organically on Etna's north face, and this bianco is the purest expression of volcanic terroir you'll find at this price. Carricante grapes from high-altitude vineyards produce a wine of startling minerality and precision. If silence had a flavor, it would taste like Etna's volcanic soil filtered through mountain air.

One of the Southern Hemisphere's great white wines — a study in restraint that rewards patience with extraordinary depth. Drinkable now with air, but built to evolve for a decade or more.
