Talisker 18 Year Old
Talisker · Talisker Distillery
This is Talisker at its most composed — the maritime punch of the 10-year softened into something more nuanced and integrated. Eighteen years have fused the distillery's wild coastal character with sherry-cask sweetness into a seamless whole. A masterclass in how time can be mortar.
Kit Aromas
Nose
Maritime smoke and dried fruit open together, neither dominating. Honeyed malt and a faint floral rosewater quality drift underneath, with toasted wood and a gentle medicinal note at the edges.
Palate
Rich and layered — dried fruit and caramel arrive first, then the signature Talisker pepperiness emerges wrapped in smoky malt. A dark cocoa bitterness adds depth through the mid-palate without heaviness.
Finish
Long, warming, and slightly briny. Smoke and dried fruit linger together in a balanced, slow fade.

New Riff Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Bottled in Bond
New Riff
New Riff's BiB is proof that transparency in production translates to transparency in the glass. The non-chill-filtered, sour mash approach with a high-rye mash bill produces a bourbon of clarity and conviction. At this price point, it overdelivers consistently.

Tomatin 18 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Tomatin
Tomatin 18 is one of the Highlands' most underrated age-statement malts. The combination of first-fill oloroso sherry casks and refill bourbon barrels creates a layered, elegant whisky that never shouts. It rewards careful attention with steady, deepening complexity.

Plantation Fiji Islands 2017 Single Cask
Plantation
This Fiji single cask bottling from Plantation delivers the transparency that the series is designed to showcase—a specific distillery, a specific year, a single cask's personality on display. The double aging in Fiji and then in Ferrand cognac casks in France adds structural complexity while preserving the distillery's characteristically lush tropical profile.

Gran Centenario Plata Tequila
Gran Centenario
Gran Centenario Plata demonstrates that entry-level tequila need not sacrifice character. The selección suave process—a brief rest in new American oak—adds a whisper of complexity without masking the agave. This is an honest blanco that works beautifully in cocktails but merits straight sipping on its own.

Ardmore 12 Year Old Port Wood Finish Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Ardmore
Ardmore often goes overlooked among Highland malts, but this 12-year-old demonstrates why peat works differently north of the Highland Line. The port wood finishing adds depth without obscuring the distillery's signature lightly peated character. At 46% and non-chill-filtered, it has the weight and texture to reward patient sipping.

Kilchoman Sanaig Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Kilchoman
Sanaig is one of Islay's best-kept affordable secrets. The marriage of sherry cask richness with Kilchoman's signature peat creates a whisky that feels more expensive than it is. A textbook example of balance under pressure.

Glen Moray 15 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Glen Moray
Glen Moray consistently punches above its price class, and this 15-year expression is a case study in Speyside approachability. It doesn't chase complexity for its own sake — instead it delivers a harmonious, well-aged dram that rewards patience. An excellent introduction to aged Speyside whisky.
