Hampden Estate · Hampden Estate Distillery

96 proof18 YearTrelawny, Jamaica
Eighteen years in the Jamaican tropics is an eternity for rum maturation, and the angel's share has concentrated what remains into something extraordinary. This is Hampden at its most refined — the high-ester character that defines the distillery has been civilized by time without losing its identity. A rum for contemplation that rewards every minute spent in the glass.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Intense tropical fruits — overripe mango and banana — collide with dark chocolate and espresso. A funky, estery undercurrent provides the signature Hampden depth, tempered by aged oak and dried fruit.

Palate

Concentrated and layered, with molasses, toffee, and a burst of orange peel dominating the entry. The mid-palate reveals tobacco, leather, and a deep vanilla sweetness from extended cask aging. Despite its age, the spirit retains remarkable tropical fruit intensity.

Finish

Extraordinarily long, with oak tannins, dried fruit, coffee, and a persistent estery funk that lingers.

The Story
