Château de Beaucastel Côtes du Rhône Coudoulet de Beaucastel Rouge 2021

Château de Beaucastel

28.2 proof2021 VintageCôtes du Rhône, France
Coudoulet sits just across the road from Beaucastel's Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyards, and it shows. This is a wine that delivers much of the flagship's character — the earthiness, the garrigue, the complexity — at a fraction of the price. One of the southern Rhône's greatest values.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Dark cherry and blackcurrant lead, followed by garrigue herbs, a touch of violet, and underlying earthy notes. There's a subtle gamey quality that nods to the southern Rhône.

Palate

Medium to full body with a generous but structured palate. Berry fruit and cherry intertwine with cedar and a hint of green pepper. Fine tannins carry the wine with energy, and a mineral thread runs throughout.

Finish

Long and savory, with lingering cedar, dark fruit, and a dusty, stony quality.

The Story

The Perrin family's Coudoulet vineyard lies adjacent to their celebrated Châteauneuf-du-Pape estate, separated only by a small stream — the same stony, galets-roulés terroir producing a wine that overdelivers on its humble AOC classification.
